The Levis Motor Cycle Club is the oldest affiliated Club in
South Australia and takes its name from the Levis two stroke motorcycle. The Levis Social Club was formed in
September 1922 as the result of the number of Levis motorcycles that took part
in the opening run of the Motor Cycle Club of South Australia that year.

The
first Patron was Mr J.L. Koch, the first President, Mr S.J. Lower and the first
Secretary, Miss P. Bennetts.
The main activities of the Club at that period were speed
meetings at Sellicks Beach and trials of a social nature and not too difficult
for the ordinary motor cyclist.
As time went on the personnel of the Club changed and the
next Secretary was Mr. Ian Badger with Miss Bennetts still remaining as
Treasurer. Mr Badger was later transferred to Melbourne and was replaced by Mr.
Ivo Short and Mr Jack Short was appointed Treasurer.
Owing to the fact that Mr Lower had also been transferred to
Melbourne, Mr A.J. Doyle was appointed President. Mr lvo Short then went to
In 1934 Mr Ron Badger, on going to another firm, relinquished
the office of Secretary and Mr Ted Holyoak held the position for 12 months when
Mr E.W. Gray was appointed. Mr Mason resigned as President in 1934 and Mr Ron
Sharpe was appointed.
The main annual fixtures of the Club were the speed meeting
at Sellicks Beach, their opening event for
the competition season, and a six hour trial. During the remainder of the year
there were many minor trials and speed events, both open and closed. The
clubrooms were situated at 65 Grote Street, in E.T. Fishers.

After several moves, the club acquired the Druids Hall in
Stanley Street, North Adelaide where they stayed for 40 years. After that the
club met in the Velocette Clubrooms.
In 2007 the club is going great guns, with a very healthy
membership, after 84 years as a
club! Its current members are justifiably proud of the contributions past
members have made to motorcycling in South Australia and are determined to
maintain club traditions throughout our 85th year and into the
future.
